Black Artists

Here are four black artists that I support. Get to know them and support them!

Sydnie L. Mosley is an award winning artist-activist and educator who is interested in creative work that is both artistically sound and socially aware. She produces experiential dance works with her collective SLMDances.

Gierre Godley Project 44 (Queens, NY) is an all male dance group that serves as the artistic platform for choreographer Gierre Godley. The company strives to erase all preconceived notions about masculinity and the role of a male performer in the arts. With a visceral approach to choreography, the works of PROJECT 44 aim to showcase the beauty, versatility, and athleticism of male performers.

Jori O’Neale is an accomplished comedienne with experience at some of the best comedy clubs in New York City. She has performed at comedy clubs such as Comix, the famed Caroline’s Comedy Club and garnished weekly laughs at “Hot Pudge Sunday’s” comedy special at Laugh Lounge. Recently she has been seen on several screens during her own Virtual World Tour “One Holiday at a Time”. Her comedic style can be most closely compared to Jim Gaffigan, if he were a black woman.

Kayla Hamilton (she/her/hers) is an award winning artist and educator who uses disability aesthetics to create experiences on the intersection of Blackness and Disability. When Kayla is not dancing, she's a special education teacher who loves to watch Law and Order on Hulu while sipping on peppermint tea.

Activism

Leeanne supports organizations that are led by BIPOC activists and focus on social justice and equity. Here are just a few. Consider supporting in action and resources.

Movement for Black Lives
The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) formed in December of 2014, was created as a space for Black organizations across the country to debate and discuss the current political conditions, develop shared assessments of what political interventions were necessary in order to achieve key policy, cultural and political wins, convene organizational leadership in order to debate and co-create a shared movement wide strategy. Under the fundamental idea that we can achieve more together than we can separately.

Warriors in the Garden
A Collective of non-violent activists dedicated to protect our community from all forms of systemic oppression
